Neuropathy Overview

The condition known as Neuropathy occurs when specific nerve pathways are damaged as a result of illness or ongoing health problems. These include Diabetes, Transverse Myelitis and Spinal Stenosis. Damaged nerves send incorrect signals back to the brain causing the Neuropathy sufferer to feel “scattered” nerve signals – numbness, burning, tingling and impulses of sharp pain. The progressive effects of the Neuropathy are typically felt in the legs, feet, arms and hands.

While medications can sometimes help with the symptoms, they cannot be relied upon to restore health of the nerves.

The Problem: Nerves Do NOT Have a Direct Blood Supply

Unlike most other tissues in the body nerve cells do not have an external blood supply. The blood vessels that are responsible for feeding the nerves are located within the nerves themselves. Therefore, irritated or injured nerves actually interrupt their own oxygen and nutrient supply. Oxygen-starved nerves are often atrophied and retracted. The distance between the nerve cells grows as the nerve cells shrink and retract making it harder for nerve signals to jump from one nerve cell to another. This leads directly to altered / disrupted nerve sensations such as Numbness, Tingling, Burning and Sharp Pain.

The Solution: High Power Laser Therapy Bypasses the Blood Stream
to Deliver Healing Energy Two Different Ways

1. Laser Therapy Delivers Healing Energy Directly to the Nerve Cells

Class IV High Power Laser Therapy sends bio-available energy directly through intact skin to photoreceptors within the injured cells to “jump-start” the healing process. The photoreceptors act like solar panels. They accumulate and store energy (ATP) which is then used by the powerhouse of the cell (called mitochondria). The powerhouse then releases this energy to activate the healing process.

2. Laser Therapy Improves the Function of Blood Vessels that Feed the Nerves

The Avicenna Class IV High Power Laser sends radiant infrared energy deep into the walls of the blood vessels that feed the injured nerves. This improves the elasticity and function of the blood vessels. As the blood vessels become healthier the nerves begin to thrive. The Laser Therapy improves the oxygenation of the individual nerve cells allowing them to “plump up” and lengthen to fill-in the gaps between the nerve cells. This allows the nerve signals to “jump” from cell to cell more quickly since the distance between the nerve cells is lessened.

The opening up of the electrical pathways and the accelerated nerve cell repair allow for clear, correct communication between the brain and the rest of the body. The result is healthy function and a return to normal sensation. In other words,

NO MORE Pain, NO MORE Numbness, NO MORE Tingling and NO MORE Burning!

While the Therapeutic Laser Wand passes over the injured area, the patient experiences a gentle warming sensation over the skin. Laser Therapy is not only painless, it feels great!
